Jack’s Progress

Birmingham City may be tempted to loan out England U-21 goalkeeper Jack Butland as Chris Hughton praises the youngster for making ‘great progress’.

Birmingham's Jack ButlandButland enjoyed a successful spell at Cheltenham Town earlier this season and once he has recovered from a slight knock to the knee, the Bristol born shot stopper could be allowed to leave St Andrew’s on a temporary basis to gain more first team experience.

“We’ve had inquiries but not that many,” Chris Hughton told media.

“At 18 years of age, although he’s making great progress, I think most clubs who are looking to bring a keeper in are generally looking for ones who have got a little more experience.

“There is a possibility he could go back out but we need to make sure he’s back into training first and injury free.

“He’s just got a slight knee injury but we expect him to go back in training very soon and he’ll be fine.”
