Zigic & Burke Offered New Terms

Blues manager Lee Clark has offered new contracts to Chris Burke and Nikola Zigic. The future for the pair was uncertain due to them being two of the club’s highest earners, and it is thought that 6 ft 8 Zigic had already accepted that his time at St. Andrew’s was over.

The club have offered the duo new deals on vastly reduced terms as Clark looks to build his squad for next season. Zigic is a cult hero with most Blues fans and he has a knack of scoring important goals, like his goal at Bolton last Saturday. Burke is attracting interest from elsewhere and is available on a free, but he hasn’t indicated he wishes for a move away from Birmingham, where his family are settled.

Captain Paul Robinson will have his appearance related option taking up, meaning he will stay at Blues for a further season, as will Olly Lee. Will Packwood will also be offered a fresh deal but defender Aaron Martin and midfielder Brian Howard will not be re-engaged after short term spells.

Wade Elliott, Darren Ambrose and Hayden Mullins, who have been out on loan spells this season, are likely to be released.
